Airtel Malawi Plc has announced the appointment of Mr. Aashish Dutt as its new Managing Director taking over from Mr Abdul Khayyum Shaik who served as acting Managing Director since November 2024.
Mr. Dutt brings over 28 years of experience in the telecommunications sector, including 14 years in executive management roles. He has previously held significant positions within Airtel, such as Sales & Distribution Director for Airtel Malawi in 2017 and Chief Commercial Officer for Airtel Kenya Networks since August 2021.
Mr. Dutt’s expertise encompasses market expansion, customer lifecycle management, and leading transformative projects aimed at increasing revenue and market share. His leadership experience spans both India and Africa, focusing on developing urban and rural markets and fostering team growth. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Calcutta University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Symbiosis Center, India.
The Board of Airtel Malawi expressed gratitude to Mr. Abdul Khayyum Shaik for his leadership and dedication during his tenure as Acting Managing Director since November 2024.
